Open Question: Degeneration of my menisci?

Today i went to a clinic with an MRI machine that my doctor recommended as our clinic doesnt have one. i have been having some problems with my knee since i started to play soccer 4 years ago, now i can no longer play because it is too painful which is why i want it fixed as soccer is the sport i love. i have been experiencing pain on both sides of the knee cap(not litteraly right beside it) and every few minutes when i am sitting i have to change positions as it will be hurting and it takes me 30 mins to fall asleep as it is uncomfortable. so when i got back home i looked at the docter at the clinics note on the conlusion part and it said- degeneration of menisci, mild joint effusion. so i was just wondering what this meant and what are the treatment options?? thanx so much in advance(ohh btw im a 14 year old girl and i am willing anything to finnaly get this FIXED, not sure if that helps...)...
